About First Meta™ and its culture

First Meta™ is a high-growth, venture-backed start-up that provides a full suite of financial services for virtual worlds like Second Life. On 31 July, 2007, First Meta launched the first virtual-currency-denominated credit card, the MetaCard™, and is currently expanding into new products and new markets.

First Meta™ was founded in February 2007 by Douglas Abrams and Aileen Sim who have been working together for 6 years.

Positions Available

VP, Business Development

As Vice President of Business Development, your primary responsibility is to help the company expand into new markets. This includes launching into new virtual worlds and platforms, new products, creating strategic partnerships and developing and executing on new strategies to drive the growth of the company. You will not just participate in, but play a key role in deciding the overall strategic direction of the company.

You should ideally have a good network into the virtual world industry.

This is a full-time position based in Singapore.

Developers

We are primarily using the LAMP stack (P being PHP in this case) and Java for our systems. However, we do NOT need you to know these technologies specifically, have an ungodly number of years of experience and a degree or two to top it all off.

We need "good coders" and "great hackers" who are motivated, flexible and resourceful. We need people who are not afraid to explore new technologies and learn on the job. We want people who code as a hobby.

You will be working directly with our CTO. He has been coding for 8 years and is as geeky as you can get. You will be responsible for maintaining and upgrading the existing system. You will also have the opportunity to learn new technologies and build new products that will have significant impact on the company.

We’re looking for full-time people based in Singapore but will consider other arrangements (part-time / project-based / freelance etc.)
